Laerdal Heartstart Semiautomatic External Defibrillator model 1000. Includes leads and Heartstart tester. Determines whether the patient is in cardiac arrest by automatically evaluating the heart's electrical action. If ventricular fibrillation or a tachycardia over 200 beats per minute is detected, a defibrillatory shock is delivered. If no treatable rhythm is detected, the device will enter a monitoring mode in which all treatment functions become inactive. The device is capable of multiple operating cycles during a single rescue event. Front panel indicators and verbal reminders by an electronic voicce inform the operator of the unit's operating status, while a two channel microcassette recorder provides a record of the event for later review by professional medical personnel. This defibrillator is contraindicated for use on patients with the following responses; consciousness, presence of breathing, presence of pulse, presence of cardiac pacemaker. The Heartstart 1000s is not intended for pediatric use ( anyone under 12 years of age ).
