GAS DETECTOR type GASCHECK 74GC/S made by Crowcon (Instruments) Ltd., Oxford, England.
Listed new price of these units was around $1500.
This is a battery powered (1 lantern battery), self aspirating, (has internal pump) portable instrument for the detection of combustible gases and vapours.
The instrument comes complete with operating instructions, a sampling hose and a probe.
I will not ship with the battery because of the extra weight. It is cheaper for you to purchase a 6 volt lantern battery locally.
The unit is in very good clean and operational condition and has been tested with methane, butane and town gas.
The unit is calibrated for % LEL (Lower Explosive Limit) for methane in air.
In use the instrument will measure gas and combustible vapour if present in air and will alarm at the 10% LEL level.
As a safety feature, the alarm lamp can only be extinguished when the meter reading drops back below 5% and the SET button is pressed.
The detector is a catalytically oxidising ?Pellistor? type used in a balanced bridge configuration.
This high quality instrument can be used in laboratory situations as well as field work. The final packaged weight is about 3kgs without the battery.
