Subject: Igm Proposal 071099 to robotically weld trailer beds
Igm Robotic Systems, Inc. is pleased to submit the following proposal to weld trailerdecks. The attached layout PI 099C shows the equipment outlined in this proposal.
The proposed robotic system shall consist of a four-station flat table configurationdesigned for trailer beds up to 16 feet in length. An inverted Igm RTi 330-S robot will bemounted to a RST 2500, 2.5 meter (approx.l 00") servo controlled rotary cantilevered
arm and column. This assembly will then mount to a 10 meter (approx. 33'oftravel)servo controlled floor track providing 8 axis of robot movement in each of the fourstations. The RST 2500 allows the robot work envelope to be repositioned relative to thework piece to provide excellent reach and access over the entire part. In addition the RSToffsets the robot away from the floor track providing a walk space between the part and
floor track, allowing the operator access to all for sides of the piece part. As an option wehave quoted an RP/RF 1000 servo controlled Head and Tailstock with a combined load
capacity of 4,400 pounds to enable rotating the piece part to a programmed position andworks as integrated axis of the robot providing coordinated motion between the piece partand welding torch. Please note that the final elevation of the system would be determineddepending on if this option was selected. A Lincoln Powerwave 455 power source and
wire feeder will be the primary welding equipment supplied. This system incorporates theIgm through-the-wrist design with Igm complimentary torch and torch bundle, which
allows excellent access to hard to reach areas as well as allows 720 degrees of torchrotation without any torch bundle wrap up. Safety fencing and light barriers will beprovided to provide operator safety between the robot and operators. No fixtures havebeen quoted with this system. It is our recommendation that the parts are pretacked
providing maximum reach and access of the robot. This would also allow you toincorporate your existing tables with a few locators and clamps to repeatably position thevarious piece parts. Igm can provide both fixture design, and build upon request.
Igm has also provided an option to this system configuration to be able to weld the part inthe vertical position. Please see attached drawing PO 10990. Basically this option would
only allow approximately three quarters of the part to be welded in this position. In orderreach the entire part in this position we would need to go to a three-axis slide system to
achieve complete reach and access. These types of systems are typically one third greaterin price compared to the system quoted. See photo below for an example. Igm can
provide a proposal for this type of system upon your request. A second point to thisoption is under the present machine configuration we would need to move the Head andTailstock closer to the floor track to give the robot satisfactory clearance on the opposi
